ANZ trumps the other major banks when it comes to the first home buyer market, says a new report.

The annual First Home Buyer Awards, a report that looks at 400 loans from more than 60 lenders, determined that ANZ offered the best overall experience to Australia’s new borrowers.

“In this climate of rising interest rates, all the banks provide a range of services that assist getting Australians into their own homes. ANZ, however, offers a full range of educational support, product features, flexibility of offerings, and ease of access to its home loan people,” said CANSTAR CANNEX financial analyst Mitchell Watson.

ANZ came out on top in all states except Tasmania and ACT. In those areas, CBA received the highest marks.

As for non-banks, IMB placed first in ACT and NSW, while the Australian Central Credit Union came out on top in NT and SA. In Queensland, Heritage Building Society received the award, while myState financial, Hume Building Society and Police & Nurses Credit Union took line honours in Tas, Vic and WA respectively.
