Citibank moves Adelaide office closer to brokers

After several years based in the Adelaide city centre, Citibank has moved its mortgage office to Norwood, 2km north east of the city to make it more accessible for brokers.

Brokers had found the city office was so inconvenient to them, they were no longer willing to come in to town, a spokesperson for Citibank explained.

The main issue was a lack of parking. There were no car parks nearby, meaning brokers and Citibank staff had to pay for parking and were always moving their cars. Rather than meet at the office, they would drive out of town and meet at a coffee shop - "a massive hassle".

"The situation was not good for anyone - brokers, customers, Citibank, and it wasn't working," the spokesperson said.

As a result, the bank decided to move the office to Norwood, a small business hub with a car park outside and in an area of town where brokers predominantly work.

The spokesperson added that the new office was bigger and had better facilities including meeting rooms, conference rooms "designed to act as a hub away from home for brokers".

"The new office has its own training room / board room for 16 people, so brokers can come in and run their own seminars during day. Smaller boutique aggregators and brokers can come in for all-day business development days and professional days, she added.

The spokesperson said the broker response had been overwhelming and the office has witnessed a 90% increase in the number of brokers coming in compared to when they were located in the CBD.
