MFAA waits on trademark application

The Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia is still awaiting a response from the Australian trademark office in relation to its revised application to allow its members to use a trademarked name.

The application, which was originally rejected because the trademark examiner believed the proposed title - 'Professional Credit Adviser' - would restrict non-MFAA members working in the broking industry - was  resubmitted with a different presentation earlier this year.

MFAA chief executive Phil Naylor confirmed the body is still awaiting the trademark office's response. He did not comment on whether the MFAA was still pursuing the proposed title of Professional Credit Adviser.
