Mortgage House flattered by internet imitation

Mortgage House said it is flattered that another financial company would use its brand name on Google, but that hasn’t stopped them from requesting the other institution to cease the "possibly misleading adverstising".

In a statement, the company said that it had recently discovered that another financial institution had purchased the keywords “Mortgage House” and other variations of the group’s name, via the largest Internet search engine Google. As a result, any prospective borrower conducting an Internet search for “Mortgage House” would be redirected to the other institution’s advertising.

After contacting the institution, Mortgage House said it agreed to refrain from continued use of this keyword in its advertising.

“I see this as an extremely generous compliment – this unnamed mortgage broker is a recognisable and well known brand. They respect the strength and resilience of our trade mark, hoping to leverage off it,” stated Ken Sayer, managing director of Mortgage House.
