Queensland investors returning

Investors are flowing back into the Queensland market as prices fall and rental demand strengthens.

The REIQ has claimed the Queensland investment market has "turned a corner", with investor activity up 16% over November. The organisation said that the activity remained below historical averages, but was being driven by lower interest rates.

"After being in hibernation for most of 2011, investors are starting to return to the market with REIQ accredited agencies also reporting a more buoyant mood since about November," REIQ chief executive Anton Kardash said.

The REIQ predicted that that a trend of strong demand would continue, and said vacancy rates had tightened in many areas across the state at the end of December.
