FBAA national president Peter White has defended its decision not to agree to open forum discussion with Australian Institute of Professional Brokers (AIPB).
White described the letter he received from the AIPB's Maria Rigoni as "poorly structured and worded" and "reeking of legal recourse".
"No one with a common sense legal mind would take part," White said.
His chief issue with the letter was the AIPB's failure to name any of the FBAA members that it has accused of unethical and unfair practices.
"It say 'members' [of the FBAA] but won't name them. Yet they want to discuss these members in an open forum," White said.
He said the only option was for its internal dispute resolution committee to handle the allegations made against some of its members.

Peter, don''t you think you should play the ball not the man? As an FBAA member I have not heard a peep from the FBAA regarding any of the issues brought up by he AIPB. In fact, the FBAA and MFAA have both been acquiescent on most of these issues. I switched my membership last year from the MFAA to FBAA because I have absolutely NO FAITH in the MFAA to deal with any issues regarding lenders and now the FBAA has deflected these issues, and insulted a group of BROKERS who are trying to make a positive impact on behalf of brokers. Peter, the least you can do is take these issues seriously. Someone has to make a stand for the brokers.......
