Gourmet chocolates up for grabs

By AB | Wednesday, 3 September 2008

Stand a chance of winning a box of gourmet chocolates from the Blue Mountains Chocolate Company by taking part in our bi-weekly broker poll.

In a landmark move, the CBA recently acquired a third of independent mortgage broker Aussie Home Loans. Executive chairman of Aussie, John Symond, has claimed the move will not compromise the way the company does business, AB wants to know what you think:

1)  Do you think Aussie can continue to be independent with a major lender on board? (Yes/No)

2)  Do you think mortgage brokers can retain trust with customers if they are bought out by one of the big five? (Yes/No)

Please send your responses, along with any comments you wish to add, in an e-mail including your name, location, company name and contact details to: agnes.gajewska@keymedia.com.au

For the time being Aussie may remain independant, but sooner or later the squeeze to direct an increasing flow of business to CBA in return for continued support with funding is going to happen. Simply look at the comments from Bluestone yesterday about their relationship with a Bank. Bluestone are off the air until they can secure their own non bank funding.

CBA will definately put pressure on Aussie to direct loans to them. Why else would they purchase a stake in Aussie.
