Desperate mortgage advisor on eBay

By Andrea Lavigne | 04 Jun 2009

Australian mortgage professionals might be doing it tough, but nothing compared to an unemployed mortgage advisor from the UK who has auctioned himself on eBay in an attempt to find new employment.

Andy Palmer's ad says he's "willing to do anything - so long as it is not sexual or illegal". The 30-year-old from Maidstone was among 1,300 people fired from Northern Rock bank last August.

He's applied for jobs since then, but landed only occasional work. Described as a "hard worker, enthusiastic and willing to learn," Palmer is looking for a job with a monthly wage of at œ1,600. He's pledging to donate 25% of the winning bid to charity.

The former mortgage advisor's bid has been moved from eBay's auction listing to the classifieds, as the site restricts users from listing "intangibles".

Previous eBay oddities include one Australian man's $330,000 auction of his "whole life" which included his house, car, work and friends.

This is too funny. Gives me an idea, I'm auctioning my back pain if anyone is interested. Bid starts at $1.

I know of a Gold Coast finance company that advertises in the Ebay classifieds. I'm not sure if that's where I'd be going to arrange my finance but I guess you never know where you'll find a potential client.

I'm the guy with the back pain. Who ever is auctioning me off please start my bid at $2. I'd be distraught if my back pain is worth more than myself.

My wife has been nagging me a bit lately... after reading that article auctioning her on Ebay sounds like the logical decision!

Amused reader and Adam should bundle their offerings but make sure the winning bidder collects within 24hrs of the sale finishing. And if they bid but don't pay (or more importantly collect) they will get negative feedback!
