In what's possibly the first referral partnership of its kind in Australia, a mortgage broking aggregator has teamed up with a global law firm

Vow Financial have been doing this for over 2 years already with Vow Legal.

It makes a lot of sense.

Conceyancers are pretty much the last service a buyer things about so any referals coming out of a conveyancer is likely to be of very low quality. A firm like Slater & Gordon is unlikely to send legal clients to individual brokers. This is good for the aggregator and law firm, but of little use to the individual broker.
Brokers will do far better if they develop good relationships with small individual conveyancers on the basis that the conveyancer does a great job. Referals may then come from the extended legal contacts, but this is unlikely when dealing with the larger law firms.

You may be right Peter and I take your point, although we are simply looking for more opportunities and offerings to assist our brokers moving forward. If nothing else comes of this but a solution for our brokers clients at a heavily reduced cost and great service then its still a win, our brokers clients will be happy which in turn helps the broker for repeat business. Obviously what we are looking for is the opportunity to increase distribution to our brokers and if we can in some way be it by bringing on businesses such as Slater and Gordon then we will.
