First home buyers are falling further behind, according to new ABS figures. Why, asks one group, are the government and opposition choosing to ignore the problem?

Couldn't agree more. Obviously the Housing associations have got in the ear of the Newman Government (for example) and the general real estate market has dropped markedy, all because the Grant only applies to new homes!

I have asked this before but how do the bodies that collect the FHB data actually know how many borrowers are first timers? If they are not eligible for the FHOG because they are buying existing dwellings the lenders wont know or care and certianly don't specifically ask if they are first home buyers! No FHOG application = not a first home buyer? NOT TRUE!!
