    To compete with the many mum & dad negative gear-ers, some of whom Ive seen with 40 odd investment properties, the Federal Government should create a level playing field and allow first home buyers (FHB) to deduct their home loan interest (as a minimum).

    I understand this is the case in the USA.

    Also, in SA, the Stamp Duty on Purchase & Transfer is horrendous, by far the highest in Oz, yet foreign buyers pay the same stamp duty as locals!

    The Vics have got this policy right with 50% less tax on locals and a 5% surcharge for foreign buyers.

    We should have at least a 5% surcharge on foreigners Oz-wide!

    Us Aussies can't even buy a 100% land holding in Asia yet we allow "open slather" here - Why?
