The Australian Defence Reserves Support Council has named Bankwest its 'Employer of the Year Award' winner for 2012.
The bank and its reservists were acknowledged late last week at a ceremony at the South of Perth Yacht Club in Applecross, Western Australia.
Parliamentary secretary for defence, Senator David Feeney, congratulated Bankwest for their support of Australian Defence Force reserves, saying that by ensuring flexibility for reservist employees, Bankwest has made it possible for them to serve part time.
“Currently, there are more than 74 Western Australian reservists in the Solomon Islands, helping maintain peace and stability in that country. I thank both the employers and reservists who work with us.”
Bankwest human resources chief executive, Gill Rees, says the bank is proud to be receiving the award.
“Supporting our people in the Australian Defence Force reserves is an important part of Bankwest’s engagement with the community.
This is the second employer-recognition award that Bankwest has received in eight months. In March, the bank also accepted the Employer of Choice for Women citation from the Federal Government’s Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency.
