Bankwest has appointed ex-ME Bank broker head, Stewart Saunders to the role of general manager, broker sales.

Saunders will commence with Bankwest on Monday 25 May, after relocating from Melbourne where he has been with ME Bank for the past nine years.

As the national manager of broker sales at ME Bank, Saunders was responsible for launching ME Bank’s third party distribution of residential loans nationally.

Bankwest executive general manager, Retail, Andrew Whitechurch said Saunders has led a team that delivered significant growth for ME Bank over the past three years.

“…I know he will deliver the same and more for us at Bankwest,” he said.

“Stewart is an experienced banker and brings with him a diverse background that covers technical financial experience and project management, as well as business development and Broker distribution.

“As the newest member of our Retail leadership team, Stewart will take on responsibility for Broker Sales but will also play a key role in the development of our Retail banking strategy.”

Saunders said he is extremely excited to be joining such a dynamic organisation.

“There are huge opportunities for Bankwest moving forward,” he said.

“What attracted me to Bankwest was the dynamic nature of the organisation and the culture - it’s great to have a business that’s truly focussed on its customers and wants to make their banking easier.

“I’m looking forward to joining such a talented broker team and providing great customer service to brokers at an exciting and challenging time in the current market.

“There’s also the fantastic leadership team at the organisation, which I’m excited to contribute to, and learn from and develop as part of that broader senior leadership group.”
