A leading Sydney-based mortgage broker has been recognised as one of the region’s most prominent business women thanks to her hard work founding both a successful brokerage and a networking organisation.

Louisa Sanghera, director and principal broker at Zippy Financial Group and the founder of Connect for Success, was awarded the Outstanding Business Person of the Year Award at the North Shore Local Business Awards hosted by Precedent Productions this week.

Starting as a sole broker three years ago, Sanghera has since grown Zippy into a team of four, now employing three brokers and an admin/marketing manager. All Zippy brokers are working mums, following Sanghera’s own humble beginnings in the industry.

She also founded the networking and business education group, Connect for Success (CFS), which operates on a not-for-profit basis to help small businesses on the North Shore and Northern Beaches. The group hosts quarterly events, masterclass workshops, coffee mornings and more to help business people collaborate, offer advice and share expertise.

Sanghera has also acquired another community business called Northern Beaches Mums, a community website and Facebook group with more than 19,000 members. Zippy now sponsors the site, running live Q&A sessions, property investment seminars and more for those in the area.

“I have been overwhelmed at the wave of support and congratulations from the community and I’m so grateful to have been chosen to win this award,” Sanghera said.

She thanked her family and friends who had supported her while building the three businesses over the last three years,

“I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of such a wonderful community of local businesses and will continue to do everything in my power to support them.”
