Far out Friday: Top Aussie wines for under $20

The average mortgage broker in this country earns anywhere from $38,941 to $116,933 per annum, according to PayScale figures, which is a pretty wide spectrum - and ABS statistics show the average Aussie consumes 2.2 standard drinks per day.

Mortgage brokers are a classy bunch (we don't need statistics to show us that), so we can perhaps assume that those two standard drinks include wine. Good wine.

But, if you're on the lower end of the afore-mentioned income scale (or you just want good value for your money), it can be decidedly stressful selecting the best drop to go with tonight's BBQ sausages.

Never fear! We've tracked down Australian wine expert James Halliday's list of the country's best bottles for under $20. Here's what he recommends - and, if it's not already on the list, feel free to include your favourite wine (or beer, for that matter) in the comment box below:

Halliday just awarded three wines from Cooks Lot in the Top 50 Best Value wines - 2013 James Halliday Wine companion.
For client settlement gifts I however like throwing in the Cooks Lot 2010 Late Harvest (95 points from Huon Hooke) with a blue cheese!
