A broker who left the recently collapsed franchise, Investor Finance, has set up her own brokerage in Queensland.

Mortgage broker Katie Toole who left Investor Finance four months ago to start Headstart Property Finance, told the Sunshine Coast Daily that business is going well.

Investor Finance shocked the industry after it shut branches and fired staff in a bid to 'reconstruct' itself under a new entity.

At the time of the closures, the company's director Adam Thomas said Investor Finance, which concentrated on the investment property sector, had succumbed to the sub-prime crisis.

However Toole, who also works in the space, said that the credit crisis had not had a great impact on her business.

She said she was writing $2m of mortgages each month.
