Mortgage Choice has announced the appointment of Melissa McCarney as its new general manager of group marketing.

Prior to joining the 20-year old franchisor, McCarney held a number of senior positions within Aussie Home Loans, including the role of senior manager, home loan acquisitions and channel marketing and, most recently, head of strategic change, strategy and projects.

McCarney has also worked in a variety of senior marketing roles within Optus in both their consumer and small and medium business divisions.

In her role within Mortgage Choice, McCarney’s primary focus is on aligning the business’ marketing functions across all brands, including Mortgage Choice, Mortgage Choice Financial Planning, and acquired businesses, comparison website, HelpMeChoose.com.au and aggregation services provider, LoanKit.

Melissa will review the marketing strategy with an aim to increase brand recognition and lead generation for the company’s core mortgage broking business. At the same time she will also oversee the brand’s transition in the new financial year to a diversified financial services provider, following the public launch of Mortgage Choice Financial Planning.

Mortgage Choice CEO, Michael Russell, says McCarney’s experience in marketing, brand building, franchising and strategic management will better position the franchisor as they move forward with plans to transition the  business to a diversified financial services provider.

Melissa says she’s ‘thrilled’ to be working within the Mortgage Choice team.

“I’m excited about the company’s plans for growth and the challenge of transitioning the respected Mortgage Choice brand so that it becomes renowned for more than mortgage broking. Our new strategic marketing plan will be focused on building all of our brands on the strengths of their compelling propositions with the aim to further raise the group’s profile as a true customer champion.”
