NMC dials down fixed rates

National Mortgage Company has taken 0.5% off its four and five-year fixed rates, with both now priced at 7.95%.

NMC head of sales Fernando Lemos said a slight shift to fixed rates had been observed by the group, as consumers look for certainty in an environment where banks may move rates outside of the Reserve Bank cycle.

"We are always looking at ways of passing on any funding benefits directly onto our consumers," he said.

NMC recently launched a SmartStart product, targeted at first homebuyers, as well as a "fee-free" Flexi Saver loan, which included no application or valuation fees.
