Financial services expert Warwick Negus has been announced as a new non-executive director with non-major lender Bank of Queensland (BOQ)

Negus’ appointment is effective immediately and he replaces Neil Berkett who resigned as the Virgin Group’s nominated director on the BOQ board in May this year.

Negus’ most recent executive roles include chief executive officer of Colonial First State Global Asset Management, CEO and co-founder of 452 Capital and managing director of Goldman Sachs in Australia.

Negus is also currently a non-executive director of the Financial Services Institute of Australia, Terrace Tower Group and Washington H. Soul Pattinson & Co.

BOQ chairman Roger Davis said Negus’ experience in financial services will see him be a significant contributor to the non-major’s board.

“I am delighted to welcome Warwick to the BOQ board. His depth of experience and insights will be invaluable as we continue to implement our strategy against a backdrop of economic transition and an evolving regulatory market,” Davis said.

“Alongside his extensive career experience, Warwick also brings considerable board experience across a number of industries and sectors,” he said.

Negus said he looking forward to joining a bank with a strong history.

“I am pleased to be joining on of Australia’s oldest banks and working alongside the board and management to deliver on BOQ’s strategic objectives,” he said.
