ME Bank has announced the appointment of a new general manager of broker sales, following the departure of its national broker manager, Stewart Saunders.

Lino Pelaccia has been appointed to the newly-created role. Pelaccia has more than 25 years’ experience in the mortgage broking industry including senior positions with NAB Broker, Macquarie Bank, St George Bank and Colonial Wholesale Services.

ME Bank’s group executive sales, Angela Middleton said Pelaccia will be responsible for developing and executing ME Bank’s mortgage broker strategy over the next three years.

“The new role comes at a critically important time as we seek to aggressively grow our home loan settlements in a highly competitive environment,” she said.

Pelaccia says he is looking forward to further developing ME Bank’s broker network.

“ME Bank’s broker channel has developed an excellent reputation since entering the mortgage broker channel in November 2011 – its fairer ethos, record low home loan rates and professional service is striking a chord with brokers, and I’m excited to build on this and accelerate further broker sales records for ME Bank.”

Stewart Saunders tendered his resignation as ME Bank’s national broker manager in early March. The non-major says he played an integral role in the growth and success of ME Bank’s broker channel for the past eight years.
