The Bank of Queensland has appointed a new director to its board – Ferrier Hodgson managing partner Bruce Carter.

Carter – who has worked with all the major financial institutions in Australia – has extensive accounting, risk, business review and restructuring experience across the private and public sectors, and will bring valuable commercial and industry skills to the board, BOQ chairman Roger Davis said.

“He has a successful track record of working on business improvement strategies across a wide range of industries for over 30 years and enjoys strong federal and state government relationships, having worked on a number of restructures and reviews for government including the recent GST task force for the Federal Government.”

Carter is looking forward to the challenges ahead.

“It’s an interesting time for the banking industry with the Federal Government Financial System Inquiry promising the opportunity for change in the sector," he said.

The appointment follows Margaret Seale’s on 21 January, and brings the total number of directors to 10.

Carter also sits on the board of SkyCity Entertainment Group, Genesee & Wyoming Australia, Australian Submarine Corporation, and Territory Insurance Office.
