Loan Market closed its broker conference yesterday by announcing the creation of a new client app, as well as heralding an aggressive push into the digital sphere.
Director of sales Mark de Martino claimed Loan Market was already setting benchmarks in its web presence, but more could be done.
"I want to set forth a vision to be one of the leaders in technology," he said.
The app, which is due to launch later this year "around Melbourne Cup day," according to De Martino, will initially focus on brokers with an eventual roll-out to consumers.
De Martino was reluctant to reveal the specific details, however one of the features will be 'augmented reality', which allows a user to hold their phone up to a street, and the app will show which houses are for sale.
"It will make accessing important information very easy," he said.
Meanwhile, honesty with clients, hiring a good PA and fostering close ties with lenders' BDMs emerged as the key themes of the two-day event.
Winner of Loan Market's International Rookie of the Year, Josh Bartlett, told the audience his success came down to "communication."
"I make around 100 phone calls a day, to touch base and generate leads," he said. "Also, I hired a very good PA which has made a big difference. It's something every broker should do."
