NAB head of business banking, Joseph Healy, predicts that credit growth could return to business lending in the second half of 2010 after shrinking in 2009.
He said the growth would be dependent on the economy continuing to show its current signs of resilience.
Business lending has unexpectedly become more competitive even though it can't deliver the growth shown by mortgages, according to a report in the AFR.
Banks such as Westpac and CBA are trying to improve their business lending market share.
