A major bank has announced it is launching a new broker education initiative in August.

The fortnightly webinar series by ANZ will cover topics selected according to broker feedback, allowing the bank to directly engage with what is happening in the industry.

“The launch of our fortnightly webinar series is a demonstration of our ongoing investment in the channel and our commitment to the further professionalism and education of our broker partners,” said Simone Tilley, general manager of retail broker distribution.

“We are excited to offer a range of different topics and to continue producing content based on feedback directly from brokers and aggregators, as well as from data-led insights.”

The bank's BDMs will partner with subject matter experts on a broad range of topics, with each session providing the opportunity to ask questions before its conclusion.

The first of ANZ's education sessions is scheduled for 1 August, and will be an economic update led by the bank's economist Adelaide Timbrell. It will cover the housing market including construction, pricing, regulation and other factors affecting residential property in Australia.

On 15 August, Queensland BDM James Higgs will lead a session on application quality and rework reduction.

The final session next month, set for 29 August, has New South Wales senior BDM Sara Phuah providing detail on the guarantor requirements for both security and servicing guarantees when submitting to ANZ.

Tilley has encouraged brokers to let their BDM know of topics they’d like covered in future sessions, and to feel free to give feedback after the webinars to help tailor the content moving forward.
