Brokers need to get it right the first time: Cummings

by AB24 Jun 2013

The biggest issue facing Australian business is productivity, says CBA’s Kathy Cummings in a recent Australian Broker TV interview – and brokers are no exception.

“The largest issue that Australia is facing, not just the mortgage market, is productivity. It’s a global issue, it’s an Australian issue, it’s an industry issue. You don’t pick up a paper any day of the week where you don’t hear about an industry staring into productivity.”

Cummings says the issue only gets compounded as brokers look at expanding their businesses.

“As you start to build critical mass, you build more complexity into your business. So if you’re thinking about going from a single operation into two or three people, if you don’t get those processes right, if you can’t track your pipeline, if you don’t know if you’re measuring the right metrics, how are you going to know if you’re actually getting there?”

What a cheek! If bank productivity and service even approached reasonable I would save an enormous opportunity cost. Cathy, you and your collegues need to do a lot of work in your own backyards before you qualify to judge our productivity.

Gee KC's timing is not always her best asset is it? Has she had a good look at her Business in the last 3 months? If they were paying bonuses to us based on their errors, someone would have been sacked!

I do wish that, in lieu of continually lecturing brokers on how to do things right, she would turn her attention inwards and start looking at the double handling her marvels at the CBA are actually creating brokers.
