MyState Bank has announced that their new General Manager Banking will be Huw Bough, their former broker chief.

Bough had been away from the company for two years, working as COO at Kooyong Avant, a joint venture that dealt in specialist lending for medical professionals.

Prior to taking that role, Bough was General Manager Retail Banking, Business Banking and Broker at MyState. They have long been a favourite among the broker community, scoring a net positive of +54 in 2021 when brokers were asked if they would recommend them to their customers.

Now, he will hope to bring that knowledge of the broker channel to the general manager role, in particular the emphasis on turnaround times that has seen MyState named in the top 25% of lenders for loan approvals by aggregator AFG.

“Huw has an exceptional understanding of our business and our service proposition, and he appreciates the important role that MyState Bank plays in the lives of our customers and the broker community,” said Melos Sulicich, MD and CEO of MyState.

“There is a big opportunity before us with Huw on board to build on the strong momentum of our retail and broker operations. Despite the impact of COVID-19, we have maintained and improved our service proposition over the past 12 months, and Huw’s appointment will only serve to strengthen our efforts in this area.”
