The Australian Prudential Regulation has made some changes to the structure and responsibilities of its executive team.

Carmen Beverley-Smith has been appointed as ED for superannuation, and Clare Gibney as ED for policy and advice. They succeeded Therese McCarthy Hockey and Suzanne Smith who were appointed APRA members from their roles as EDs.

Gibney was formerly general manager resolution at APRA. Beverley-Smith, meanwhile, will join the prudential regulator in March, after an esteemed career in financial services and consulting, including over two decades at Westpac and Commonwealth Bank.

APRA has also created two new ED-level roles, ED technology and data and chief of staff, in a bid to strengthen its capability in technology and data and align its communication and stakeholder teams.

Meanwhile, appointed to the ED technology and data role is Bruce Young, who was formerly general manager operational resilience at APRA. Taking the role of chief of staff is Jane Magill, who will join APRA in May after a long career with Macquarie, primarily based in London and New York.

In addition to the new appointments, Renée Roberts will move from ED policy and advice to ED banking.

These appointments take effect from March 1, although Magill, as stated, will join APRA in May.
