In the past 12 months, Westpac customers have collectively saved more than $18 million through cashbacks, with travel expenses leading the savings at 27%, followed by gift cards at 12% and fashion at 10%.

This achievement follows the partnership launched in 2022 between Westpac and ShopBack, soon to expand to another of the big bank’s brands.

Expanding the ShopBack experience

The ShopBack rewards program, initially exclusive to Westpac customers, is now accessible to St.George customers, with Bank of Melbourne and BankSA set to join later in April.

St.George cardholders can enjoy a dedicated lounge within the ShopBack app, offering exclusive cashback deals alongside the platform’s vast array of more than 4,000 brands.

Jason Hair (pictured above left), Westpac’s managing director of digital and consumer finance, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative.

“We know that while cost-of-living pressures remain high, many Aussies are on the lookout for a great deal, particularly when spending on holidays or a new outfit. That’s why it’s a great time to be opening up cashback rewards for customers of another one of our fantastic brands,” Hair said in a media release.

“We’ve been working hard to make ShopBack available to even more of our customers across all of our brands. I’m excited that by the end of April, the ShopBack lounge will be open for Westpac, St.George, BankSA, and Bank of Melbourne customers.”

Angus Muffet (pictured above right), general manager of ShopBack Australia, also commented on the partnership. 

“I’m delighted to see our partnership with Westpac extending now to St.George customers,” Muffet said. “They’ll benefit from the same great rewards Westpac customers have enjoyed on the ShopBack app since launch simply by shopping with their St.George cards.”

Special promotion

To mark this expansion, St.George has partnered with Visa to offer an exclusive Olympic Games Paris 2024 experience. Three lucky St.George customers can win travel packages to Paris 2024, including flights and accommodation for two, by shopping on the St.George Lounge on ShopBack with an eligible St.George Visa card between April 4 and May 16.

Participants must link their eligible St.George Visa card to ShopBack, shop via the St.George Lounge in the app, and complete the entry form to qualify. The promotion is open to customers over 18, with traveling companions over 14, and no minimum spend is required for eligibility.
