NAB provides grants and donations for Cyclone Alfred victims

NAB has initiated urgent support measures for communities in Queensland and Northern New South Wales impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred, a category-two storm bringing heavy rains, high tides, and damaging surf.

To directly assist those impacted, NAB has made $1,000 disaster relief grants available for immediate financial relief to address essential needs in this critical period.

Significant contributions to Salvation Army

In a move to aid recovery efforts, the NAB Foundation has committed a $200,000 donation to The Salvation Army.

The funding is set to bolster the provision of meals and psychological first aid at evacuation centers for first responders and evacuees.

The support extends beyond immediate relief, offering financial aid grants to assist with the longer-term recovery of the affected communities.

Corporate leadership and community solidarity

“In times of crisis, it’s crucial that we rally together with our communities,” said Sharon Cook (pictured), NAB group executive.

She highlighted the importance of the $1,000 grants, describing them as a lifeline for those needing emergency accommodation or essential supplies.

Encouraging colleague participation in relief efforts

Further extending its support, NAB has launched a colleague giving campaign, encouraging bank employees to contribute, with every dollar matched by the NAB Foundation.

“When disasters hit, it takes many hands to get communities back up on their feet,” Cook said.

The bank is also coordinating with Disaster Relief Australia to prepare for any necessary recovery operations, providing a platform for NAB volunteers to offer essential on-ground assistance.

Accessing aid and support

Individuals and businesses affected by Tropical Cyclone Alfred are urged to contact NAB for financial assistance through several channels, including dedicated customer care lines and the bank’s digital platforms.

Specific local government areas in NSW and QLD are eligible for the Disaster Relief Grants, with applications open until April 4.

NAB continues to offer comprehensive support options for affected customers, such as loan deferral and reduced repayment arrangements, hardship support for loan and credit card payments, and fee waivers.
