ASX-listed fintech lender Wisr has lifted its full-year profit outlook by 40% after a record September quarter, driven by a sharp rise in secured vehicle lending.

In its first-quarter market update for the 2026–27 financial year, Wisr said it now expects cash net profit after tax of at least $7 million for the year. Previous guidance of at least $5 million was set only in July, when Wisr posted its maiden full-year cash profit of $1 million.

Chief executive Andrew Goodwin (pictured) said the result was “testament to effective business execution since returning to growth”.

Vehicle loans drive record originations

Originations for the three months to 30 September reached a record $253.8 million, up 73% on the same quarter last year and 28% on the June quarter. Goodwin said originations are now running at more than $1 billion a year.

Secured vehicle loans did most of the work. Originations in that product more than doubled to $128.9 million from $54.1 million, while personal loan originations rose 35% to $124.9 million. The loan book grew 40% year on year to $1.21 billion, having first crossed $1 billion only in the March quarter. Quarterly revenue rose 32% to $33.1m.

“This strong demand across our personal and secured vehicle loan products demonstrates the strength of our core platform and customer proposition,” Goodwin said.

The growth came at some cost to margins. Vehicle loans carry lower yields, funding costs, and credit losses, and the shift toward them pushed net interest margin down to 4.9% from 5.26% a year earlier. Portfolio yield held at about 11%, supported by pricing increases on new loans during the quarter.

Credit quality improves as the book grows

Wisr’s credit metrics strengthened alongside the growth. Loans 90 or more days in arrears fell to 0.86% of the book from 1.14% a year earlier, and net losses eased to 1.19% from 1.63%.

“The average credit score of the loan book remained high at 802, reflecting the quality of our customer base,” Goodwin said. That is slightly below 807 a year earlier.

Broker support and funding in place

Wisr reported a broker Net Promoter Score of +81, slightly ahead of its customer score of +80.

Its three warehouse facilities carry $887 million in total commitments, with $165 million undrawn. Wisr also widened its funding base in May, pricing its largest asset-backed securities deal to date at $354 million and drawing UK and European investors.

The company expects cash profit to grow substantially in 2027–28 as scale builds. Wisr noted that the quarterly figures are unaudited and that its guidance is subject to review.
