Australian Finance Group has appointed Ross McDougall (pictured) to the newly created role of head of sales – broker services, as the aggregator continues to align its distribution, marketing, and growth functions under chief distribution and marketing officer Them Lam.

New role builds on Partner Connect experience

McDougall, who has spent 13 years at AFG, moves into the position after most recently serving as growth manager for Partner Connect. Before joining AFG in 2013, he was a senior sales executive at CMC Markets ANZ.

His new remit will see him continue to oversee the Partner Connect service while taking on broader responsibility for sales growth and partner opportunities across the network.

Lam said the appointment reflected the next phase of AFG's approach to broker support, noting that McDougall "has been central to AFG, building and shaping Partner Connect into what it is today, and this new role reflects the next stage of how we support brokers." He added that bringing these functions together was designed to help brokers get more from AFG's offering, saying "by bringing services, sales growth, and partner opportunities closer together, we can help brokers access more value from AFG's technology, partnerships and scale."

Broker-first approach highlighted

AFG's own announcement of the appointment on LinkedIn emphasised McDougall's track record of prioritising broker needs throughout his tenure, noting he "takes the time to understand what they need, then delivers the tools and support that help them build successful, sustainable businesses." The aggregator said the restructured role would give McDougall "an even stronger platform to keep delivering for our broker network."
