ANZ has made changes to its executive committee to help accelerate the transformation of the group as well as the development of common business services across ANZ.

Gerard Florian has been appointed group executive technology and group services. The appointment will see Florian’s role expand from taking accountability for ANZ’s technology operation, to being responsible for the design and governance of ANZ’s enterprise-wide business services, which include payments, retail and wholesale credit, and “Know your customer” processes. He will continue to report to ANZ CEO Shayne Elliott.

Antony Strong will join the executive committee as group executive strategy and transformation. Strong, who has led group strategy since 2012, will now also be accountable for coordinating and driving the ongoing transformation of ANZ. This includes driving further productivity across the group, delivering enterprise-wide benefits from cloud migration and enterprise business services, as well as having responsibility for delivering customer benefits from ANZ’s 1835i investment portfolio. Strong will continue to report to Elliott.

“Both Gerard and Antony are experienced executives who will continue to play a critical role in ANZ’s transformation while also ensuring we remain intently focussed on our strategic priorities,” Elliott said. “As we enter a new phase of development and growth, it makes sense to elevate the role of strategy and transformation within the bank, and there is an even greater need for a coordinated approach to shared business services available to all divisions within the bank.”

The changes will take effect on Nov. 1.
