Aussie Home Loans will host more than 500 staff, brokers and industry members at its three-day biannual sales conference in Sydney, starting on Sunday (August 11-13, 2013).

The conference, themed ‘Get Smart’, will feature keynote speakers, including CBA CEO Ian Narev, real estate agent John McGrath, brain surgeon Charlie Teo, Australian of the Year Ita Buttrose, CommSec chief economist Craig James, Virgin Australia CEO John Borghetti, as well as Aussie chairman John Symond.

“Our conference will assist our mortgage and finance professionals across the country to meet the challenges now facing our industry, with a very low interest rate climate and strong competition,” says Aussie executive director, James Symond.

The conference follows Aussie’s biggest year yet with settlements for the 12 months to June 30 organically growing by 8%, with all states and territories posting strong lending growth.

Aussie also increased its upfront net commissions paid to brokers by 15.6% on last year, due to a ‘combination of factors’, including a higher upfront rate from lenders and a higher pass-through rate to brokers.

“While we are growing strongly, the mortgage industry is transforming quickly and it is important we stay ahead of the game, providing new ideas and information to our mortgage brokers, staff and franchisees,” says Symond.
