The demand for exceptional mortgage brokers in Australia continues to rise as clients navigate higher interest rates, tighter lending conditions, and complex financial needs. But what does it take to be among the best?

Australian Broker has announced its inaugural 5-Star Brokers 2025, celebrating mortgage professionals who consistently put their clients’ needs first and deliver exceptional outcomes in any market environment.

Identifying the 5-Star Brokers for 2025

Between March 24 and April 18, the Australian Broker team conducted a nationwide nomination and survey campaign, engaging thousands of brokers, clients, and referrers.

Participants were invited to nominate peers and rate brokers across five key attributes:

  • Experience and strategic financial knowledge
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Personal service and transparency
  • Persistence and problem-solving
  • Community and ongoing support

To make the cut, brokers needed to receive the highest average number of nominations and achieve a client rating of 9 or above. Out of more than 1,000 nominations covering over 120 individuals, only a select group earned the 5-Star Broker title.

What it takes to be a 5-Star Broker

The 2025 results reveal that human-centred service is more important than price or product range. Clients overwhelmingly trust and rely on their broker’s guidance, with 98% either fully depending on their broker or collaborating on lender choice.

Strong communication, proactive support, and the ability to navigate complex lending scenarios were the most valued traits. Nearly three-quarters of clients said they would stay with their broker even if they could get a slightly better deal elsewhere.

This year’s winners exemplify a client-first mindset, strategic expertise, and an unwavering commitment to service. Standouts include:

Excellence in a changing market

Industry leaders such as Peter White, of the Finance Brokers Association of Australia, say the top brokers share a common thread: an unwavering focus on the client, adaptability under pressure, and a commitment to continuous education.

“The challenges of mortgage brokers reflect those of their clients, like rising property prices and tighter standards for new brokers,” White said. “Initial broker and client relationships are crucial, and the need for ongoing education is vital.”
