Brokers with Australian Finance Group (AFG) can now refer clients for electricity, gas, and telecommunications comparisons without leaving their loan workflow. The aggregator has formally launched its Compare & Connect integration in BrokerEngine Plus.

Since the integration went live, 188 brokers have signed up, taking total Compare & Connect sign-ups to 482 since the service launched. AFG said the uptake reflects growing demand for simple ways to support customers beyond their home loans.

A cost-of-living conversation

Customers can use the comparison service free of charge to review plans from participating providers and arrange connections. AFG is positioning it as a timely offer while household budgets are under pressure and clients are already reviewing their finances.

AFG chief distribution and marketing officer Them Lam (pictured) said the service widens the conversation beyond the loan itself.

“Buying a home is one of the biggest financial decisions people make, but the mortgage is only one part of the cost,” he said.

Lam added that it also opens up another source of income from relationships brokers have already built.

Less admin, clearer commissions

The service is available through AFG’s Partner Connect program. Brokers start a referral from an existing customer deal in BrokerEngine Plus, and key client details fill in automatically, so there’s no need to switch systems or re-enter information. A new Track tab in Suite360 lets brokers follow each referral from submission through to commission payment.

“Referrals shouldn’t mean more paperwork or extra systems for brokers to manage,” Lam said.

AFG has also released email templates and guidance to help brokers spot referral opportunities with both new and existing clients.

More referral partners on the way

Compare & Connect joins Allianz Insurance and Bond Property Lawyers as referral options available through BrokerEngine Plus. AFG plans to add more partners and features over time, with AIA Insurance scheduled to come on board towards the end of 2026.

AFG said the rollout is part of a wider investment in technology and referral services designed to help brokers diversify their income and strengthen client relationships after settlement.

The push comes as competition within broking grows, with the broker population rising 9.1% to 24,116 in 2025, according to the State of Broking report from the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA).
