Bank of Sydney (BoS) has announced it has appointed Huw Bough (pictured) to be its new chief retail banking officer.

“Huw is an extraordinary leader with deep industry knowledge. Huw will be a tremendous advocate for Bank of Sydney and our partners and customers, and I know that he will deliver exceptional outcomes for our customers and our business,” said Melos Sulicich, CEO of Bank of Sydney.

Bough has extensive executive experience especially in the lines of customer service, distribution, and sales and is an expert in the banking and financial services sector particularly in franchising, retail, and intermediary.

Prior to joining BoS, he took on significant roles, including at MyState Bank, Kooyong/Avant JV, RAMS Home Loans, and Westpac Banking Corporation.

“I am truly excited about the incredible prospects and opportunities in working with the Bank of Sydney team. I look forward to creating great customer experiences for our customers, people and partners,” said Bough.

Taking on a senior role at BoS

BoS has around 6,200 accredited brokers and has branches across Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. Bough said a partnership with brokers is essential as they play a vital role in providing around 75% of lending. Customers get to have a more personalised lending experience with their help.

In his new role, Bough will be a part of the executive team and will be mainly involved in customer services and distribution and in managing the bank’s relationship with its broker network. He will also play a significant role in retail banking and third-party distribution as well as in planning and executing strategies for the development of retail banking experience.
