Brokers have been urged to check the status of their CBA loans, after the lender hosted a 'Backlog Blitz' to process 3,121 files over the weekend.

In line with it strategy to improve turnaround times, the CBA engaged 160 credit staff across Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth to work over the weekend of 28-29 March to decision the backlog of loans in the system.

The staff were supported by Mortgage Services and Third Party Banking, and worked 4,582 hours over the weekend to prepare 3,022 mortgage documents and certify 940 customer files.

According to executive general manager third party banking, Kathy Cummings the effort made "significant inroads into the number of current loans in progress".

"I am sure many of you will find notifications in your email box and I suggest you log on to the Adviser website to check the status of your loans," she said.

Cummings went on to say she was optimistic that with extra effort and more overtime the bank would return to normal SLAs by Easter.
