The FBAA have announced they have hired their first Business Development Manager, after experiencing huge growth in membership.

At its annual conference in the Gold Coast on Friday, Peter White, CEO of the FBAA announced that Leah Renwick has been appointed as the first BDM for the association.

Renwick told Australian Broker that the association has experienced huge growth in their membership numbers, so her first task will be to reconnect with the industry.

“The FBAA, through the growth that we have had over the last two years has seen the need now for not only business development management, but also the need to reconnect with both the aggregators and the banks, as well as to be able to get out there and cover Australia and make sure that we have that contact with our brokers.”

Renwick, who has been working at the FBAA for almost five years in an events coordinator role, says she is excited about getting back to her broking roots in this role as BDM.

“The association stands by the fact that it is run by brokers for brokers, so I have been in their shoes. I’m into my 18th year in the mortgage industry. I’ve been a BDM before, but now it’s for an association instead of the lending side, so for me, it’s about getting back to the grass roots and letting brokers know I understand where they are coming from and I have been in their shoes. I’m really excited about that,” she told Australian Broker.

“I will be the shoulder that our brokers can lean on. For me, it will be about going out and listening to them – seeing if they need any additional training or support and being able to go out to the road shows of various aggregators and letting them know that the FBAA is here. It will be about letting brokers and aggregators know about the services we offer to our brokers. I want to be the go-to for brokers if they need anything from the FBAA as their association.”
