Major broker franchise Aussie Home Loans
has appointed CommSec general manager Richard Burns as its General Manager Customer.
Burns will have responsibility for Aussie’s brand, marketing and digital presence, customer retention and data, and IT architecture and operations. John Symond, Aussie’s executive chairman, said the General Manager Customer is a critical and unique role and needed the right person.
“Richard is an impressive senior executive and without doubt has the right cultural fit, vision, experience and drive to lead our marketing, digital and IT teams,” he said.
“As a member of the executive management team, Richard will be responsible for protecting and growing the Aussie brand while at the same time strengthening our digital effectiveness and presence with innovative technology.”
Burns has more than 20 years’ experience in marketing, product, strategy, digital and user experience. He joins Aussie after seven years with CommSec where he is currently General Manager Customer Experience, responsible for the end-to-end user experience of CommSec’s customers. Previous roles at CommSec included Head of Strategy and Head of Marketing. Burns’ new role at Aussie will commence on Monday 9 February.
