The MFAA named the finalists for their State Excellence Awards 2021, with over 350 brokers across the country listed for one of the most prestigious gongs in Australian mortgage broking industry.

The list of finalists can be found here and winners will be announced in early June, with each state hosting their own online awards nights. Winners at state level will advance to the National Excellence Awards, with the event taking place in Sydney on Thursday 22 July.

Elsewhere, there was a sea change moment for mortgage brokers this week as one of Australia’s biggest banks, Heritage, announced that they would be permanently adopting a hybrid model of working going forwards.

In other good news for consumer-owned banks, Newcastle Permanent was named as the best Australian-owned bank in Australia (and the second best overall) in the Forbes World’s Best Banks list 2021.  Four of the top five were consumer-owned banks, and the top spot was taken by ING Group.

As ever, Australian Broker will continue to bring you the biggest stories in broking every week – so rest up, enjoy the weekend and we’ll be back with you on Monday.
