An aggregator has expanded its leadership team to help facilitate the next phase of growth for the brand.

Mortgage Choice welcomed Jerome Smith to the role of head of franchise recruitment, where he will be responsible for the continued growth and success of the group’s franchise network.

Most recently, Smith spent several years in the real estate industry, helping to successfully grow the LJ Hooker and Ray White franchise networks; over his time working with the brands, Smith expanded into new Australian markets, hired 150 salespeople and established 29 new offices.

At Mortgage Choice, Smith will report to David Zammit, general manager of distribution.

“For 28 years, we have been helping Mortgage Choice franchise owners create strong sustainable businesses,” said Zammit.

“We believe Jerome’s extensive experience in sales and a deep understanding of the property industry and franchising will help us find the new generation of talent to grow our iconic brand.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jerome to Mortgage Choice.”

Zammit highlighted Smith’s “high-energy personality” and ability to create and sustain strong business relationships as some of his key assets.

The new appointment has expressed excitement to be starting a new chapter of his career with an “iconic Australian company”.

“Mortgage Choice is a pioneer in this industry and its brand name is synonymous with mortgage broking,” Smith said.

“I’ve always been passionate about helping people take their businesses to new levels of success and I see Mortgage choice as the perfect vehicle to achieve this.

“The role of mortgage brokers is more important than ever and, in challenging economic times, Australians turn to professionals and brands they know and trust. It is this consideration I hope to leverage to help ambitious entrepreneurs start their own Mortgage Choice business.”
