Mortgage Choice has announced a record $444,576 in FY25 donations to Australian charities, driven by its Charity Foundation (MCCF), which supports causes related to vulnerable communities, housing, and financial literacy.
In FY25, 92% of brokers opted in to contribute $5 per loan settled over $100,000, with REA Group also contributing $150,000 to the fund.
A sub-fund of the Good2Give Community Fund, MCCF operates nationally and at the state level through committees made up of Mortgage Choice owners, loan writers, and admin staff. It is supported by broker contributions and backed by REA Group.
Additional funds were raised at key Mortgage Choice events, including professional development days and the national conference.
The donations come as cost-of-living pressures persist. ABS data showed annual inflation eased to 2.1% in May, but key essentials like food (+2.9%), housing (+2.0%), and rents (+4.5%) remain elevated, continuing to strain vulnerable households.
Mortgage Choice CEO Anthony Waldron (pictured) said the results reflect the values of the broker network and the strength of the MCCF initiative.
“It’s fantastic to see the MCCF having a meaningful impact donating more than $444,000 to 78 charities throughout the financial year,” Waldron said.
“Our Mortgage Choice brokers are incredibly passionate about making a real difference in the communities they operate in and the MCCF has raised more than $1 million for people in need around Australia since it was first established.”
The foundation distributed funds to a diverse range of causes, including Dolly’s Dream, Habitat for Humanity, Subiaco Justice Centre, Catherine House, Grab Life By The Balls, Big Group Hug, and Nourish Street.
Mortgage Choice Charity Foundation chair Donna Campbell said the cost-of-living crisis made the foundation’s work more important than ever.
“In a year where so many people struggled with the cost-of-living crisis, giving back has never been more important,” Campbell said. “Mortgage Choice brokers are immensely proud of the impact the MCCF is making through donations and volunteering.
“Our brokers not only donated funds, but they also volunteered their time at local charities. Whether they donned an apron to cook meals for people experiencing homelessness, or prepared emergency packs for vulnerable children and families, they brought dignity and hope to people who needed it most.”
The broker network is set to make an even bigger impact in FY26, with more than 94% of Mortgage Choice brokers already opting in to continue their $5-per-loan donation model. REA Group has also confirmed it will once again contribute $150,000 to the fund.
MCCF’s vision is rooted in the belief that collective giving delivers greater impact than acting alone – a philosophy that underpins its dual local and national focus.
In the coming year, MCCF will support state-based charities nominated by franchisees and will partner with the Starlight Children’s Foundation as its national charity partner.
