Two new technology executives will join NAB by the end of May as the bank pushes to become a leading data-driven organisation.

Christian Nelissen, NAB chief data and analytics officer, said the bank is “continuing on our journey of becoming a data-driven organisation to help us improve the customer and colleague experience,” which “means hiring the best talent in data and analytics to make banking simple, safe, and smart for everyone.”

Joanna Gurry and Jess Cuthbertson will join NAB’s growing team, reporting directly to Nelissen, itnews reported.

“I’m very excited to have Jo and Jess join the enterprise data and analytics team,” Nelissen said. “Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to help us accelerate our digital, data and analytics agenda.”

Gurry will become NAB’s latest executive for data delivery. She will also sit on the enterprise data and analytics leadership team, responsible for the connection between businesses and data-build requirements as well as for reusable and scalable data solutions. Gurry has been chief data officer and executive general manager at NBN for the past seven years and has also held roles at IAG and the Commonwealth Bank.

Cuthbertson, meanwhile, stepped into the role of NAB’s executive for customer decisions on the enterprise data and analytics leadership team. She started in April, and is responsible for creating personalised customer experiences and boosting NAB investments.

Cuthbertson joined from CBA, where she took on several roles during her four-year stint including general manager, data and analytics for business banking. Before that, she spent 10 years with British banking and insurance NatWest Group and held tech roles in the US, itnews reported.
