A real estate app has partnered with Channel 9’s popular home renovation and auction series “The Block”, allowing viewers to involve themselves in the show in an innovative new way and changing the future reach of auctions across the country.

Gavl, an app that livestreams auctions in real time, has partnered with the program to give prospective buyers the opportunity to watch and bid in real time, opening the proceedings to those who are unable to physically attend or those preferring anonymity.

The app, which is free to download and use, also provides researching buyers and sellers with unique market insights into the properties. Buyers can browse listings, shortlist properties and watch auctions, all on their smartphone.

“We are so excited to be partnering with The Block,” said Joel Smith, chief executive officer of Gavl.

“It will be the perfect opportunity to showcase some of the most talked about properties in Melbourne right now to a global audience.”

Buyer’s agent and property advisor Greville Pabst, part of the buyer’s jury on The Block, said he will exclusively be using Gavl for his clients.

“Gavl allows my clients to be engaged in The Block auctions whilst protecting their identities,” he said.

“Some can’t physically be able to attend auction day, but can still be involved in the experience and not held back for geographical reasons”
