The group behind the professional development and training platform on which Westpac built its Broker Academy has announced several scholarships for finance brokers utilising the resource.

The GO1.com Broker Academy Scholarship Program is immediately available and has eight scholarships on offer.

In addition to formal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with attainable points accepted by the key industry bodies, Westpac’s Broker Academy also includes access to Certificate IV modules and Tertiary Education through a Diploma of Financial Services.

GO1 is offering three CertIV scholarships and five Diploma of Financial Services scholarships.

The CertIV in Financial Services covers key issues and product information in the commercial and asset finance industry, covering essential skills including product knowledge, legal considerations and the documentation required for commercial or asset based loans.

The course will cover:

  • Features and benefits of products which can help clients achieve their capital and investment goals
  • How to effectively educate and inform clients
  • Tools used by the credit underwriter
  • How to analyse the statement of Financial Performance and Financial Position
  • How to develop relationships with key strategic partners

The Diploma of Financial Services equips brokers to meet the needs of their commercial clients through covering practical skills, such as how to identify commercial finance opportunities, as well as providing the physical tools and checklists needed to support business growth.

The course will cover:

  • Sales management
  • Business planning and budgeting
  • Managing people for performance
  • Process improvement
  • Setting out a credit submission (Credit Memorandum)

“We’ve partnered with the best minds in the industry in the Institute of Strategic Management and CAFBA (Commercial & Asset Finance Brokers Association of Australia) to ensure that the scholarship program and courses are relevant, timely and has a positive impact for brokers,” said GO1 co-founder Vu Tran.

“The GO1 Broker Academy Scholarship Program is our bid to help brokers overcome the challenges they face in the commercial and asset finance industry, and present an opportunity for them to upskill.”

The scholarship submission form can be downloaded from the ‘News and Insight’ page on The Broker Academy website. Submissions close on 30 November 2019.
