For broker turned business influencer Ruan Burger, his biggest career highlight has been helping brokers to achieve success and growth.

“Their growth and support meant more to me than my own, defining their routines and behaviours, shaping the way they conducted business with their referral relationships,” Burger (pictured) said.

“Influencing how they thought of clients and the referral service was the takeaway that stuck with me after the sale of that business and was where the seed for The Broker Journal and Success and Broker was planted.”

Burger said there was a need for a new insightful approach to coaching finance professionals and having built two successful businesses, the industry’s interest led to the Success and Broker platform.

“Success means different things for different people, and we at Success and Broker like mortgage brokers and loan writers, like to understand the individual vision and strategy of our clients,” he said.

Burger said Success and Broker identified, developed and consolidated purpose and personality by empowering brokers and broker businesses to challenge themselves to achieve better outcomes and more sustainable growth.

He said broking could be a lonely profession and had highs and lows.

“The business becomes one of the team, supporting broker vision and strategy that goes far beyond the coaching session,” he said. “Vision is ahead of us; strategy is in front of us.”

Burger started the business in October 2021 and was quickly growing his online presence.

“I have been in the business for many years now, so I understand the importance of building a broker channel,” he said. “By keeping it simple and to the point resonates with people, and people have to like you first before trusting you second.”

Burger designed his business for brokers to follow a mud-map which formed an adaptable guide to each individual, identifying what they need and what they hope to achieve.

“We believe growth is not always in numbers, but in the person or business’s character. It is reflective in their offering to the market,” he said.

Burger said brokers should expect the unexpected if they wish to join Success and Broker.

“Brokers need to know there is a lot of fun in what we do on the journey to clarifying the why, even though we’re known for not sugar-coating things,” he said.
