Richard Gibb (pictured above) has been appointed as a non-executive director to the boards of ANZ Group, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, and ANZ, effective Feb. 15, according to Paul O’Sullivan, chairman of the ANZ Group.

Gibb, who has served as the chief executive of Credit Suisse Australia since 2019, will step down from this role on Jan. 31. Gibb brings extensive experience, having held senior positions at Deutsche Bank (2010 to 2019) and Merrill Lynch & Co (1997 to 2009).

Roles at Deutsche Bank included co-head of corporate finance, Asia Pacific in Hong Kong, global co-head financial institutions group in New York and co-chief operating officer, global corporate and institutional bank in London. At Merrill Lynch & Co, he was head of financial institutions and financial Sponsors groups, Asia Pacific in Hong Kong.

O’Sullivan expressed confidence in Gibb’s appointment.

Gibb’s “extensive global banking experience will further strengthen the banking experience on the boards, and we look forward to his contribution,” the ANZ chairman said.
