Aussie launches biggest-ever spring campaign as buyer confidence wavers

Aussie has launched its biggest-ever spring campaign investment, "It Starts With Aussie," backing its national broker network as buyers navigate a market shaped by rate uncertainty and cost-of-living pressure heading into the industry's busiest transaction period.

A campaign built for a cautious market

The campaign launches nationally across television, BVOD, radio, out-of-home, social, digital, search, CRM, and retail channels, marking one of Aussie's most integrated marketing pushes in years.

Rather than manufacturing urgency, the campaign is designed to help customers move from uncertainty to informed action, positioning Aussie brokers as the starting point for property decisions rather than adding to pressure around the market.

Michael McCash (pictured), general manager of growth at Lendi Group, which operates Aussie, said the investment responds directly to conditions buyers are currently facing.

"Buyers have had a lot thrown at them. We've been through a rate rise and hold cycle, cost-of-living pressures have been compounded by global uncertainty, and property policy settings have continued to shift. It's understandable that confidence has taken a hit," McCash said.

Independent data supports that view: in June, mortgage holders were the only housing cohort to see confidence fall, even as overall consumer sentiment hit a four-month high.

McCash said the underlying appetite to transact remains despite the hesitancy.

"But we also know that roughly nine in ten buyers are still in market. They haven't abandoned their plans or their dreams; many are simply waiting for greater clarity and confidence before they act," he said.

A platform built around customer motivations, not mortgages

The creative platform centres on a variable opening line — "It starts with ____" — that resolves to "It starts with Aussie," designed to surface customer motivations and pain points ahead of the product itself.

McCash said this reflects a deliberate shift away from a traditional advertising tagline.

"People don't wake up wanting a mortgage. They want their own place, more room, confidence to make an offer, or to know they aren't missing a better deal. We start there, with what the customer is actually trying to achieve," he said.

Local brokers get national campaign support

For the first time at this scale, every Aussie broker and store will receive a personalised local campaign kit at no cost, allowing national creative to appear in local markets featuring an individual broker's name, face and market presence from launch.

McCash said this connects national brand investment directly with local broker visibility, calling it "incredibly important" for a network of Aussie's scale.
