A new toolkit released by specialist lender Pepper Money has been downloaded more than 2,500 times since it was officially released.

Pepper Money’s ‘Real Life Guide to Referral Marketing’ and supporting tools were launched at the 2018 National Insights Roadshow towards the end of June.

They were created in response to feedback from brokers that there was a strong need for content and practical tools specifically targeting the non-conforming market. 

The content is designed to help a broker establish a unique point of difference and to attract a more diverse customer base.

Aaron Milburn, director of sales, mortgages and personal loans, said, “1 in 3 brokers attending previous Insights Roadshows told us they wanted assistance in attracting new customers, particularly in the non-conforming space.

“In addition, our broker research confirmed the view that over 60% of new business comes from referrals, through existing customers referring friends and family, recommendations from professional networks or from returning customers. 

“So rather than swimming against the tide, it was only natural that we should focus the content on referral marketing.”

The tightening credit environment means the number of people needing alternative lending solutions is only growing, and brokers seeking to take advantage of this trend should be ready to assist customers looking for alternatives. 

Milburn added, “When people are turned down by traditional lenders they look for alternatives and seek recommendations from people who have the expertise to help them. The Pepper Money Referral Marketing Toolkit helps brokers capitalise on the evolving lending landscape so that they can assist more customers succeed in getting the funding they need.”

The kit contains a set of how to guides, tools and templates, all created to help brokers set up high impact alternative marketing activities.

It includes a series of eight case studies they can leave with their referral partners so that they can identify the type of customers the broker can assist, a customer satisfaction survey template and prepared content on alternative lending to help brokers create their own landing page or emails.

The Referral Marketing Toolkit is the latest in a series of practical tools Pepper Money has launched in the past 12 months to assist brokers with customer conversion and identifying the right product for their customers. 

Milburn said, “The addition of referral marketing content to Pepper Money’s customer conversion toolkit makes it an end to end solution for positioning alternative lending to more customers.”
