REA Group Ltd has appointed Sally Bruce as an independent non-executive director, effective 2 November 2026, the property listings company said in a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange Wednesday. Bruce will also join the Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee, according to the announcement.

The appointment brings a banking and financial-services executive onto the board of a company whose broking arm, Mortgage Choice, reported growth in financial services revenue for the year to 30 June 2026.

The appointment brings a banking and financial-services executive onto the board of a company whose broking arm, Mortgage Choice, has been expanding broker numbers, settlements and loan volumes over the past financial year.

Career spans major banks and boards

Bruce has more than 35 years of executive experience in financial services and technology in Australia and internationally, REA Group said in the announcement. She was chief executive officer of AMP Bank, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Culture Amp, chief financial officer of business and personal banking at National Australia Bank (NAB), and a division director at Macquarie Group.

AMP's own newsroom states Bruce joined the company from National Australia Bank in August 2015 as managing director of AMP Bank, and during her five years at NAB held senior executive positions including chief financial officer of business and personal banking. She was appointed group executive, AMP Bank, in January 2017. AMP said in October 2019 that Bruce had decided to step down as AMP Bank chief executive, effective 1 November that year, as the company combined its banking and wealth management units, with AMP chief executive Francesco De Ferrari crediting her with "delivering double-digit earnings growth" over her four years leading the bank.

Bruce currently serves on the boards of Airwallex SVF Pty Ltd and QBE Australia Pacific, chairing the Risk Committee and the Risk and Capital Committee respectively, REA Group said.

REA Group chairman Hamish McLennan said the board was "delighted to welcome Sally to the REA Group Board." Bruce will stand for election by shareholders at REA Group's 2027 annual general meeting.

Financial services arm grew in FY26

REA Group's financial services division, which includes Mortgage Choice and PropTrack, reported revenue of $114 million for FY26, up 11% on the prior year, according to the company's results announcement to the ASX in August. Mortgage Choice revenue benefited from a 13% increase in settlements, partially offset by higher broker payout rates, while PropTrack's growth was driven by customer data contracts.

In June, REA Group acquired a 70% controlling stake in Simplicity Loans & Advisory Pty Ltd for $47 million, diversifying Mortgage Choice into commercial lending. Group chief executive Cameron McIntyre said FY26 growth was underpinned by "double digit yield growth," with the company's audience and data translating "into real commercial value for the business, customers, consumers and brokers."

REA Group also rolled out a new generation of AI-powered tools to Mortgage Choice brokers during FY26 as part of a broader push into artificial intelligence across its products.

REA Group Ltd is a multinational digital advertising business specialising in property, operating realestate.com.au and realcommercial.com.au, and owning Mortgage Choice Pty Ltd, an Australian mortgage broking franchise group, and PropTrack Pty Ltd, a property data services provider.
